For a draft that is not ready for a language pass yet. We work on the argument, the order of sections and the logic a reader has to follow, then hand you a written plan.

Our editors are recruited from the disciplines they edit in, so they recognise the conventions of your genre: how a methods section is reported, when hedging is required, how a monograph handles its apparatus, what a grant reviewer scans for first.

Most manuscripts are well served by a single subject-matched editor who proofreads and edits in one careful pass. For work going to a competitive journal or a university press, the advanced service adds a second senior editor who reviews the whole document again, including the first editor's own changes.
A single specialist proofreads and edits your document, leaves queries where meaning is unclear, and writes the summary report.
A second senior editor reviews the edited file end to end, catching what any one reader can miss and settling inconsistencies.

Upload a Word, LaTeX or PDF file over an encrypted connection, tell us your field and style guide, and add any instruction your editor should follow.
Back come a clean copy, a tracked-changes copy and a short report on the recurring issues, by your stated deadline in your own time zone.

Machine output reads plausibly and fails precisely where it matters: a legal clause, a technical term, an honorific, a date convention. Every ProofreadLab translation is produced by a human translator who is a native speaker of the target language and then checked, in full, by a second linguist.

Proofreading and editing starts at USD 20 per 1,000 words with a single editor and a seven-day return. Shorter turnarounds and the two-editor service cost more. Enter your word count on the order page for an exact price before you commit to anything.
You choose the return time when you order: seven days, 72 hours, 48 hours, 24 hours or 12 hours. The 12-hour option is available for documents up to 10,000 words on the single-editor service.
Yes, in both directions. Translations are produced by human translators who are native speakers of the target language, and every translation is reviewed by a second linguist before it reaches you. A signed certificate of accuracy is available when an authority asks for one.
Yes. Files are transferred over an encrypted connection, only your assigned editor can open them, every editor has signed a confidentiality agreement, and files are deleted on a fixed schedule after delivery. The detail is on our confidentiality page.
