Bengali proofreading & editing
For writing that is already in Bengali and has to be right: theses, books, reports, official copy and public-facing material.
What our Bengali editors check
Bengali carries error in places English does not, and a spell-checker will not find most of them. Our editors are native speakers who edit Bengali professionally, and they work through the same two passes as our English service: correctness first, then clarity and register.
- Spelling, including the conjunct and vowel-sign errors that survive automatic checking
- Sandhi and compound formation
- Case endings, classifiers and postpositions
- Verb forms and the honorific level held consistently across a document
- Punctuation, including the sentence terminator and the use of imported marks
- Register: the choice between formal literary and standard colloquial styles, applied consistently
- Terminology, transliteration of foreign names, and the treatment of English loanwords
- Numerals, dates and the handling of the Bengali and Gregorian calendars
Encoding and fonts
Send us Unicode Bengali in Word, and it comes back the same way. If your file uses a legacy pre-Unicode font or was typed in an older layout, tell us: we convert it to Unicode first, confirm the conversion with you, and then edit. Getting this wrong quietly corrupts a manuscript, so we never assume.
Academic Bengali
For theses and research writing in Bengali we also check the apparatus: citation and reference consistency, quotation conventions, transliteration of English technical terms, glossary entries and the consistency of translated terminology across chapters. Your university's thesis format requirements are applied if you send them.

Common questions
Will you change my dialect or regional usage?
Only if you ask. Tell us in the notes whether you want standard written Bengali throughout or your own regional usage preserved, and the editor records the decision and applies it consistently rather than silently normalising your voice.
My file was typed in an old non-Unicode font. What happens?
We convert it to Unicode first and send you the converted file to confirm before any editing starts. Conversion sometimes introduces errors of its own, so this check matters. If your publisher needs the legacy format back, say so and we will discuss what is possible.
Can you edit Bengali and English in the same document?
Yes. Bilingual documents are common in theses, field reports and survey instruments. We assign one editor per language and reconcile the terminology between them, then charge each language at its own rate.
Do you also translate?
Yes — see Bengali to English and English to Bengali translation. If you need a document both translated and then edited in the target language, order the translation: the second-linguist review is already included in that price.
